In regards to Unresponsive Profile Manager, does it seem like there are a lot of "hit and run" members?

Forgive me if this subject has already been addressed, but it seems to me that there are a lot profiles that have been created by Members who seem to want to download their Ged.com and get it out on the internet without any desire to stay around and work on them. When I do a listing of my Surnames by date of birth I always see a few profiles where there are two or three duplicates on one profile. Sometimes none of them have sources attached. As I have stated on another post, I don't get to spend nearly as much time as I would like on researching my genealogy- so I hesitate to be too critical of "unresponsive profile managers". But on the other hand when someone creates a lot of duplicate profiles-especially one that has no sources- it seems like it makes a lot of extra work for the active members.

Is there a way to create a "holding" category for new ged.com downloads until they can be evaluated as to the new profile managers responsiveness?

I would llike to say how much I appreciate the mentors and greeters on Wikitree. It boggles my mind to think about how much work they must have! They do an awesome job! I started out as a genealogist newbie on Wikitree and immediately started getting help on how to find sources. This is a great site. Thank you so much for your hard work.

Some may be hit and run, and others may disappear for a time due to health issues or other circumstances.
Thank you, good to keep in mind.

When you do have some time to waste it's rather interesting to go to the G2G members list and go down to a few pages with very low numbers and then look at each person's activity both contributions and G2G.  Many members have absolutely no activity, some have a few contributions and a surprising number have large numbers of contributions, most likely from entering a GEDcom (I assume they get credit for contributions in the same way as if they'd entered the profiles by hand).  It might be useful for someone to try to contact some people from various categories to see why they haven't continued.  That said, there are a lot who putter around year after year but don't post on G2G often if at all.

Will check this out when I find that time to waste! Thank you.

Wikitree is not for everyone. I have a cousin who took one look at the site and moved on, and she is an avid genealogist. Many are used to complete control, and a "for dummies" interface and wikitree is something other than that. I suspect that many start by importing, realize this is not what they were looking for and move on.

I first started working on my family tree in 2015, and still looking for more time to spend on it. I am probably not aware of the other sites with complete control. Thanks for the info.
