I have seen references that john alden did NOT have a son named zachariah or henry and the profile of zachariah had been changed once. On july 4th, it got changed back again. Clarification? lock it somehow? I find references to 8 children, not 11.

Hi Steven,

Great name. :) I'm sorry but project protecting something does not prohibit the adding of more children there is however an option in the profile to click (No more children) should be on his edit page.

As this profile is protected by a project there should have been some clear discussion before children was added.

Best of luck.

The Zachariah Alden profile should be disconnected from the parents and project-protected by the Mayflower Project to prevent him from being reconnected to John and Priscilla, along with any other profiles for real or fictional people who keep being connected to them as children. Also, it would be helpful to edit the Zachariah profile and provide sources to document what is and isn't known regarding his origins, so people stop being tempted to reconnect him.

Just ran into another reference from LDS that said there were 12 children and it includes zachariah. I just figured the Mayflower Project should be notified?

The "mayflower" tag on your question should alert the project.
You mean I actually did something right? AMAZING. Maybe now I can fix more things than I break. LOL (very careful, I don't break things)
Don't underestimate yourself, Steven!  I'll be looking for great things from you, after this fine contribution to improving the quality of Wikitree.

MF:16:1:20 list John and Priscilla with 10 children. Son John married and had 14 children, the 11th being Zachariah b. 1672. Much confusion here and people not paying proper attention!

What's needed here is for the biographies to be revised, with extensive footnoting, to present the most authoritative current account  of this family,  to include discussion of the errors and omissions that exist in other sources that people might find -- and the reasons for selecting a different version of the story. And the profiles for all family members probably should be project-protected to prevent ill-considered changes to the parents.
Hope this gets resolved because 1 mayflower member removed it 2 years ago and another member just added it back. So 2 people from the same project don't agree. I don't dare touch it. LOL
