Hello Paula,
My only ancestor that may of came from South Carolina is John Robinson, Robertson. The 1850 census states he was born in SC, but the 1860, 1870 census has Ky. His father was from Ireland and in Ky. by 1810. Johns birth was about 1805. I have looked for Allen in SC with no luck. I'm decended from two of Allen's children John & Izabella. Just letting you know we might have something in common. South Carolina.

Yes I think we do! Census takers might have made a mistake or maybe about that time he didn't want to admit it! Let's have a look and see what we can find out. I know you have already looked but it never hurts.

John I don't supposed this Robertson/Robinson family ended up in Mississippi?

I have recently started adding my sons biological line which is Robertson.  I am stuck at a John A. Robertson who shows on the census as the father of Thomas E Robertson b. 1849.

I am having serious problems finding "good" sources for the family before they are in Mississippi.

Thomas E Robertson

Hi!  I realized I am a little late to the boat but I'd love to get on for the voyage if I can!  I am actually a 7th generation Andersonian from multiple lines of my family.  I am a descendant of George Brown & Rachel Felton; George Marshall & Jane Carson; as well as being a Brooks, Butler, Burriss, Horton, Major, Breazeale, Chaplin, Reynolds, Smith, Zeigler, Pope, Gary, Calmes, Simpson, etc.  My family is from Anderson, Abbeville, Greenwood, Charleston, and Belton.

Could I please be added to the group?

Yes, and thanks A Lowe for answering late and making this hit my Home page.  :)

I have Ward, Weems, Williams, Lanier, Hart, Thompson, Varnado, Gilbert.....oh let's make it easy and say most ALL of my ancestors came from or through South Carolina.

Only one I can think of came to New Orleans, Louisiana from Pennsylvania as far as I can trace and that was the family of Elijah Stevens.

My husband and I also have a deep history in South Carolina- Anderson, Oconee, Pickens, Abbeville, Greenwood, and Edgefield are the counties most often represented in our tree.  Many of the surnames that you have mentioned are in our family, too. Of the surnames listed, the only one not currently represented in our tree is Weems.
