How do I completely chang ancestor info if some else has already merged the wrong (for me) info.

Question

After contact with a cousin, I've discovered that I was given the wrong family name for my great grandmother, her husband is different as well and years of research was wrong. I have corrected all the research and sources on Ancestry, but can't on wikitree because someone else has merged the profile, this affects several others in my tree as well. HELP!

From those three links, I'm not 100% sure what's going on, but you can always detached a spouse, parents, or children from a profile if you need to start over.  Or if you are certain that there are two different people, create a new profile.  Also, without judging those two particular tree pages at Ancestry, keep in mind that trees at Ancestry are rife with errors.  I would probably start from what you know, and are certain is right, and carefully work backwards, adding sources as you go.  Of course, if you're already certain that you're right, make the needed changes or create a new profile as needed.

How do I detach -that is the real question. I know that what I've (re)done on Ancestry (after a 3 1/2 hour phone call with my cousin) is correct.

Click on the edit tab to edit the profile.  If someone is the wrong parent, click on edit under the parent's name.  One of the first options you're given is to add a parent or remove a parent.  For a spouse, the option should be visible under the spouse's name.  Once you get the hang of it (which is mostly a matter of seeing how to do it), it's kind of fun.  There's more about how to do it on this page:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Deletion_FAQ#What_if_a_profile_has_the_wrong_relationships.3F
