I wanted to share this family photo of Orwigsburg Grade School Safety Patrol with the community. Location: Orwigsburg, PA. Date: 1954.

I was on safety patrol way back when. One day (in third grade, I think) I was on patrol and we had our crossing flags out (indicating that cars should stop so kids could cross) when a car whizzed through. We reported it, and it turned out to be Chuck M's mom. Chuck was also on safety patrol, and this made him cry.

My older brother was on the safety patrol. I was too young to be in school and I was not happy that he had a crossing guard vest and I didn't.
