I'm at my mom's house looking through family photos and found a striking similarity between these two pictures. I don't know who the woman in the old picture is but she's standing with my great grandfather Arvid Johnson who immigrated to Alaska from Pajala, Sweden. The photo is a postcard that says it was made in Canada. The modern photo is me at about 11 years old. Just thought it was interesting how strong genes can come through and I will be trying to find out who she is now! :)

I couldn't figure out how to make the picture of myself public so I made it my profile picture. I'm not very good with technology. :)
My sister and I were looking at a genealogy book and came to a photo of Lucy Balch. We both stopped and looked at each other, "Grandma!" They are four generations apart.

Hi Erin,

Thanks - I can see them now smiley  You can go to the upper right menu on WikiTree and click on 'Add' and then 'New Thing' to make a public page of your photographs so they can be seen by others. Let me know if you need help with that. And best of luck with your search!

Hi Lucy, it's so fun to find people you feel like you recognize in pictures that are so old!
Thank you Mindy, that's a great idea! I think I might do that since I have access to a lot of photos from albums compiled by older family members, and I'd like to be able to share that resource. My great grandpa had pictures of his time in the Fairbanks Exploration Company and it could be neat to share that with descendants of his fellow miners in the pictures. :)

I’m on my phone Erin but I don’t see photographs. Are they attached to the profile? You’ll have to update us if you find the answer! Family mysteries are so much fun

Hi Mindy, I accidentally posted before I could figure out how to upload the pictures!  Thank you for your response. I'll get them up once I figure it out.

indeed, photos can show interesting things.  A cousin sent me family pics my grandmother had, among which were one of my great-grandmother and her brother.  GGma's pic isn't very clear, her brother's is much better.  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brunelle-293

I e-mailed a copy of it to my brothers, asking them who he resembled.  For myself I see resemblance with my youngest brother.  The one who came up with instant response was my sister-in-law who named my nephew by my second brother.  She's right too, comparing photos I have.

That's a very detailed photo, for being so old; it's really neat to see that! :)
