I don't get it. How can a new GEDCOM import be already on the error/suggestion list for the Data Doctor's?  The profile created on 13 September 2019, system can't interpret date and an Orphaned profile.  This is the second one I've found like this.  I would think that GEDCOM import would be perfected by now WikiTree.  Thanks to those profile managers that make the motions.  Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

Wait, what? I thought we could no longer import gedcoms. I'm very confused now.

Rae, I think gedcom imports have been limited to post-1700 profiles. They are still allowed for more recent profiles.

I wasn't able to upload any of my gedcom, so I've been adding by hand. It's actually been good, since I've been adding sources as I go. Much of what is in my gedcom has been passed down through the family with little sourcing.

The Gedcom import code and the Suggestions Report code was written by two different people.

It would be difficult, if not near impossible, for the Gedcom import code to incorporate automating the removal of some of the types of "errors" that the Suggestions Report is catching. It needs a human eye after the fact. So they get flagged for us humans to look at and correct.

That's why most people will argue that a Gedcom import process (that properly includes the manual after-cleanup), is actually slower than simply inputting profiles one-at-time manually, instead. Of course, no one ever believes us when we try to steer them away.

I originally imported the GEDCOM from my computer program, then spent a month or two fixing all the errors (I think).

But I have put in all of my Stetson Family entries in manually, one at a time, and I don't have many "suggestions" to deal with right now, just the need to hit a few other sites and update my inline references....
