I am new and the instructions and videos are very good but get my head swimming. so here are my questions

Where do I put where someone is buried. Basic profile asks where they died but not about gravesites.

Is a book a good source? I have been getting a lot of info from a book, but have found a few errors by researching online. The book was written in 1951 and does contain some info from the authors personal recollections and apparently she sent out a questionairre and much of it is based on that.

I started a profile (Bliss-4993). If you get a chance, could you check it out and send some constructive criticism. I put some info from the book in the biography section. Is that appropriate?

I did some looking online for this book. It is available for free at these locations:

Thank you. I actually have a hard copy of this book that my father got when it was written.

Rick created a space page for the book, so you can use the information on the page in your profile, so others have an online link for it.

After you mention his death in the biography section, then write another sentence about where he was buried and state your source.

Yes, books are acceptable sources.  If you have some opinion about the book's reliability, you could state that in the footnote.  Your sentence above beginning "The book was written in 1951..." would, I think, be a helpful addition to a footnote.

Yes, your book excerpts seem appropriate.

Profile looks good.  I wonder if you could find a census listing to strengthen the record?

I think this is your guy in the 1850 census, Nancy and Julie.  There are other records available in Family Search, including his remarriage:

The profile looks terrific! You may be a newbie, but you definitely have a knack for this. You can add the book as a source and reference it in your biography. The more sources you find, the closer you'll get to the 'truth' . . . sometimes in genealogy you just need to keep gathering till the story emerges. Some things we will never know, but we can make pretty good guesses using observation, attention to detail, and logic. Keep going !
