Francis Adams was born at Uxbridge, Massachusetts on February 3, 1747, son of James and Elizabeth (Dane) Adams. [1][2][3]
He married Abigail Taft at Sutton, Massachusetts on April 11, 1780. [4] Abigail was born at Mendon, Massachusetts on Mar. 27, 1760, daughter of Japhet and Hannah (Goldthwaite) Taft. [5]
Francis died in his 50th year on November 7, 1802 at Northbridge, Massachusetts. [6] He is buried in the Old Cemetery in Northbridge. [7]
In his will, written October 16, 1802, he mentions:
The estate was valued at $3935.14, when it was inventoried on February 24, 1803. [8]
On May 17, 180?6, Luke and Azuba Prentice signed a document stating that they had received their portion of father Francis Adam's legacy from Deacon Nicholas and Abigail Baylies, widow of Francis. [8]
On May 21, 1807, Olive Adams documented for the court, that she had received her portion of her father's estate, in the amount of $464.50, from her guardian, Nicholas Baylies and wife Abigail. Attested to by Abner Dodge. [8]
After his death, widow Abigail Adams married second Nicholas Baylies Jr. as his third wife on October 18, 1804 at Northbridge. [6][1]
Arnold, [8] born about August 29, 1790; died at Barre, Massachusetts on April 18, 1881 [12]; married Sophia Sibley of Barre, intention published at Northbridge on October 3, 1815. [6] [Note: On Nov. 19, 1804, an Arnold Adams, of Grafton, Massachusetts, minor about age 14, requested and was granted that Nathaniel Adams of Grafton be appointed his guardian.[13]
