  • Richard then moved from Iowa to Kansas before 1870. The 1870 Kansas census

[2] shows him with his wife and 3 children, but it is unlikey his family was there because he had left them in Iowa. Besides, his wife and children are shown as still in Iowa in the 1870 census. (see the profile of Betsy Belt).

  • He has been reported to have passed away in the home of his son-in-law, Adna L Thomas, in Kansas in 1872.[3]
