Biography

Walter Chesney was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Walter de Chesney (also de Cheney^{[citation needed]}), was born about 1085 in Horsford, Norfolk, England to Ralph and Maud (Waterville) de Chesney.^{[citation needed][1]}

• Chesney of Sussex, headed by Ralph de Chesney and Matilda ____
• Chesney of Horsford, headed by Robert FitzWalter of Horsford (died after 1130), married Sibylla de Chesney, daughter of Ralph de Chesney of Rudham & his wife ___
• Chesney of Oxfordshire, headed by Roger de Chesney (died after 25 Dec 1109), married Alice de Langetot.

It is one of the children of Roger de Chesney of Oxfordshire by his wife Alice (Hugh, Ralph, William, Robert, Roger, Hawise, Beatrice, Isabel) who is the father of Walter de Chesney m Eva le Broc, according to MedLands:^[2]

Walter married Eva de Broc, daughter of Eustace de Broc and his wife ____.^[2]

Walter and Eva had one child, Amabilis^[2] or Amabel (de Chesney) le Despenser.^[3]

Walter died in 1141 in Stanley, Gloucestershire, England.^{[citation needed][4]}

MedLands offers Chesney of Sussex, Horsford, and Oxfordshire. Information from Richardson about Geoffrey de Lucy and his wife, Juliane le Despenser (daughter of Amaury le Despenser and Amabel de Chesney): "in In 1230 he [Geoffrey de Lucy] and his wife, Juliane le Despenser... William [de Mesy] in turn quitclaimed to them and the heirs of Juliane all his right in the lands and tenements in cos. Bedford, Buckingham, Gloucester, Hertford, Northampton, and Surrey, which formerly belonged to Walter de Chesney and Eve his wife."^[3][5]
