Jean Baptiste Cholet dit Laviolette was born on November 4, 1707 and baptized on November 5 at Notre-Dame de Montreal, Canada, Nouvelle-France. Present at baptism was Jean Renier (Tisserand), Suzanne Six and Pretre Priat.[1][2]
He married Marie Anne Faucher, daughter of Martin Faucher and Marie Madeleine Paré, on October 11, 1728 at Pointe-Claire. Also present Jacques Perie, Pierre Barbarie, Joseph Brunet, Baptiste Delaurie, Charles Surot and Pretre-Cure Breul.[3]
Jean Baptiste Cholet died on April 17, at the age of 75 years, and was buried on April 18, 1781 at Vaudreuil, Province de Québec. Noted on document, "muni de l'extreme onction seulement, - n'ayant pas eu le jugement a lui meme depuis bien des années" given extreme unction only, having not had the ability to judge for himself in many years.[5]
