Birth and Parents

Matilda was the daughter of Richard, son of William le Clerec, of Cheshire. [1]

Matilda le Clerk, was the daughter of Richard, son of William le Clerk of Chester. [2]

Currently her son Ranulf's birth is estimated as 1257 which is consistent with a marriage in 1250 and her husband's birth in 1230. Estimate her birth in 1235 and her marriage when she was 15.

She married Sir Petere le Roter de Thornton, knt, ob. 8 Edw. I. [1] [3]

Sir Peter le Roter de Thornton was the son of Randlele Roter, Lord of Thornton, son and heir of Peter, Secretary of Randle Blundeville, Earl of Chester; and Amicia, daughter of Richard de Kingsley, and sister and coheir of Randle his son, living a widow 28th Henry III. [1] who was in office 1181-1232.

Sir Peter le Roter was the son of Sir Ranulph (or Randle) le Roter, alias de Thorneton, and his wife Avice (or Amicia) de Kingsley.
