Biography

Mary was born in 1888. She was the daughter of George Crawley and Margaret Campbell. She passed away in 1982.

Mary Ester moved to the sheep property at Apsley Gates rail crossing (possibly brother, George Edward Donald Crawley's residence) post 2nd husband, William Quinlan's passing in 1953. Ray, grandson, born 1954 lived with Nanna from about 6 weeks of age until he was about 8 years old. She would travel into Wellington via horse and buggy for groceries etc. The horse was called Paint. Ray recalls getting a flogging for tipping out precious water. - Source Lorna Morrison
