Biography

Name

Preferred name: John Damon
Other spellings in primary sources: Doman, Dammant, Damond, Dammin

Birth

Birth: Baptized on 13 January 1620/21 at Faversham, co. Kent, England.[1] [2]

Immigration

Immigration: He arrived on the Elizabeth and Ann in May of 1635. On the passenger list of the Elizabeth and Ann, reconstructed from Certificates of Conformity, are found his mother Abigail Eaton age 35, step-sister Mary Eaton age 4, step-brother Thomas Eaton age 1 and sister Jane Damond age 9.[3] Missing from this list is John Damon, as well as his step-father John Eaton. However, as the passenger list is reconstructed from Certificates of Conformity required for emigration and is therefore incomplete, it is still likely that he and John Eaton also arrived with the rest of his family on the Elizabeth and Ann in May of 1635.

Civic Service

John was Selectman in Town of Reading in 1672, 1675, 1681, 1686.

Notes

He settled on Cowdrey's Hill, now in Wakefield, Mass. [4]
