Biography

Barbara married Beriah Frazier, May 1806 in Knox TN and they had at least eleven children: George (1807), Rebecca (1808), Paulina (1810), Nicholas (1812), Ann (1814), Sarah (1817), J Emily, Abner (1821), Maria Louisa (1824), Barbara Sophia (1826), and Beriah Jr (1832). They lived in Knox Co until 1818 when they moved to Rhea Co TN and settled on a farm along the Tennessee River, now known as Frazier Bend. Their lived on this 500 acre farm, located abt eight miles east of Dayton, for the restof their lives.

Beriah was the son of Samuel Frazier of Scottish descent, but born in France 10 Apr 1749. They were Quakers and came to America when Beriah was very young, settling in NC. In May of 1771, Samuel married Rebecca Julian (1748-1838), a Huguenot of great beauty and culture. He was the second Mayor of Chattanooga

Samuel served under Col John Sevier at the Battle of Kings Mountain - later attached to Gen Nathaniel Greene's army. After the Revoluntionary War he moved his family westward to, now Greene Co TN.

Beriah was first married to Annie Reece in 1795 and they had tree children - Samuel, Julian, And Marry Ann (Polly). She died abt 1800. Samuel b,6 Dec 1796, married Pacify Tinsey Gibbs, the widow of Major John Craihead, daughter of Jacob and Huldah Gibbs.

Her father, Nicholas's will, dated 1810, probated 1817, lists his children as: seven daughters, Mary, Sarah, Catherine, Silphenia, Elizabeth, "Sophia's' heirs," and Barbara; sons, John, David, Jacob, George, Nicholas, and Daniel. ^[1]
