Research Notes

She is not the daughter John Fitz Gerald The Marshal and his wife Sybilla Evreux.[1] They are her grandparents.[1]
Please see the recent G2G question on her parentage.
In the 2013 Royal Ancestry Vol. IV page 671, Richardson states this persons name was Margaret (or Margery) le Gras, daughter of William le Gras. Her maternal grandfather was John Fitz Gilbert, the Master Marshal.[4]

You have a major problem William Crassus is the son of an unknown Crassus he has two brothers Henry and Robert. He was born in Gloucestershire.

Rod Piper, I gave the documentation for the relationships in detail within this profile and on William's profile. In order to change what is presented, we would need to establish new and more credible documentation, i.e. sources. You gave Medlands which is considered reliable, but Richardson reads Medlands and other primary sources. So why would he decide William is the son of William?

It may help to read the following linked message board where experts such as Douglas Richardson discuss the primary source documents for the relationships they establish in their books. It is a Google group for a [Society on Medieval Genealogy https://groups.google.com/g/soc.genealogy.medieval/c/ZPIUJnysSYo/m/RXmUaVC8uZoJ]. The way I read it, there is no correction needed here, as it confirms the data on our profile. Do you see it differently?

Marshal-38 and Gras-53 appear to represent the same person because: As per discussion on G2G and notes on profile of Marshal-38, the LNAB for this profile should be Gras, Marshal-38 had been mistakenly attached to her grandparents as her parents.

Thank you Robin -- PPP is the "Project Protected" insignia directly above this comment near the top of the profile.

So yes, the security level is "open" but until the "Project Protection" is temporarily lifted, the parents cannot be changed.

It is something only a designated Leader can lift or add. I should have put the question in the Forum instead of here. Thank you Robin for caring!

the profile is now open as far as I can tell

I have done all that that can be done to this point, with consensus of all who replied. If anyone disagrees, they have not yet replied.

We are at a standstill until a Leader removes the PPP from this profile, so that John Fitz Gilbert and Sybilla can be removed as parents and 2) Unknown Marshal and William le Gras can be installed as parents, so that 3) this profile can be re-connected to Ralph Somery as his wife and to Ralph Somery (the son), as his mother.

It all checks out with Douglas Richardson's Royal Ancestry (of which I own the set) and the Internet database by Mr Marlyn Lewis - who cites Richardson. See link to his site on this profile. See link to G2G question in my Comment below.

Thank you Robin for your Comment.

Have you read the G2G thread on this family? It explains a lot.

I suspect that her mother was Maud Fitzjohn Marshal

Sorry I am unable to help as I am not pre 1500 qualified can someone else do the thing?

SUMMARY:
This Margaret's profile is connected to her grandparents instead of her parents. Her LNAB is not Marshal, it is Gras. Please see the G2G question on this. Thank you.

A profile with the correct LNAB and parents is newly created: Margaret Gras.

Please remove the project protection temporarily from this profile, Margaret Marshal-38, and propose a merge of Marshal-38 into Gras-53, to fix the error in the LNAB on this profile.

Please join the discussion on this change in the G2G Forum at Are John Fitzgerald Marshal and Sybilla Evreux the parents of Margaret (Margery) who married Ralph Somery?

The complete family diagram and sources are there.

I have asked the question about Margery's parents in G2G where we can more readily discuss how to fix this profile.

For some reason it did not format correctly but it is fixed now.

Thank you for your attention to this necessary fix on this profile.

Thank You. I agree with your research.
