Biography
When Joseph Hinds wrote his will April 14, 1772, his wife's name was Susanna, and she had a daughter named Ann McConel. See the will. Presumably after the death of his first wife and mother of his children, Joseph Hinds married a widow whose married name was McConel.
A deed on 5 Mar 1770 also identifies Joseph Hinds's wife as Susanah.
It is routinely said that Joseph's first wife was Rutha Higgins, or maybe Rutha Baldwin, but no one has provided any documentary evidence that her name was Higgins or Baldwin or Ruth. We don't know when she was born or when she died.
