Biography

Nicholas House was born on May 14, 1788 near German Flatts, Herkimer, New York.[1] Shaver says that "Nicholas settled in West Amboy, Oswego County, and some of his descendants are now living there."[2] The 1850 census for West Amboy shows a Nicholas G. House married to a Margaret.[3][4] The G. suggests this might actually be Nicholas G. House the son of George House. In 1850 the Holliday family was living with them in Amboy. Charles Holliday was a boatman.
