Biography

Isabella Jordan came to America from Ireland when she was 15 years of age.

She first married a Welchman by the name of Wray by whom she had one daughter, Mary. After the death of Wray, she married a Barber. Although his given name is not known, it is believed that he is the same Barber, a fur trader, who was killed by indians near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Isabella was the daughter of John Jordan (b 1690-Ireland) and his wife Catherine..

Note: The Glenn book indicates only her surname, Jordan. She came to America from Ireland with her parents at about age 15. Her first husband was a man from Wales named Wray, who soon died, leaving her with daughter Mary. Her second husband was named Barber, and they had a son John, but the second husband also died, leaving her in "very straitened circumstances." She and her small children lived with her father until they were old enough to be bound out.

A letter written by her grandson Robert G. Wilson in 1806 mentions having heard of her death.
