Biography

Benjamin Keirstead was born September 18, 1763, the son of Samuel Keirstead and Mary Johnson of Jamaica, Long Island, New York^[1]

This Loyalist family came to NB circa 1783. He was first granted a townlot at Parrtown and later received land at Oromocto, Sunbury Co, and settled at Keirstead Mountain on the Kennebecasis River Kings County^{[2] [3] [1]}

On 16 Jun 1793, Benjamin married Jemima Bunnell, daughter of Isaac Bunnell and Jerusha Sherwood, at Gagetown, NB^[1]

2. John Bunnell, born 9 Mar 1796, who married 4 May 1818 Ann Holmes^[4] and who died 26 Jun 1864^[5]
3. David B, born 7 Mar 1798, who married 8 Jun 1823 Sarah Blakely^[6] and who died 1856^[7]
4. Thomas, born 21 Dec 1799 at Sussex, NB, who married 3 Mar 1827 at Sussex, Elizabeth Green at Wickham, NB^[8], and who died 10 Oct 1857
5. Bethia, born 8 Nov 1801, who married 13 May 1822 at Sussex, William Fowlie of New Canaan, Brunswick Parish, Queens County^[9]
