David certainly was born in Sussex County, NJ. I have discovered that his Father was indeed an Immigrant Jacobus Losch; who left for America at aged only 17; unsatisfied with his placement in the Hessen Army. Here is a clipping I came across aiding me in putting this better together. Certainly this family with all their huge families & frequent use of the same names has made it challenging for everyone! I know I have been especially flustered.

In 1793, David M. Loesch appears on the tax lists for Newtown, Sussex County, New Jersey.[1]
He married Elizabeth Shuts in Sussex County, New Jersey, on 27 April 1800.[2] They lived in Sussex County for many years, but then migrated west to settle in Washington County, Pennsylvania, where David's brother Jacob had served in the militia during the Revolutionary War, and where his brother Isaac had settled by 1787. David's family appears in Somerset township in Washington County in 1820,[3] and again in 1830.[4]
Late in life, David and Elizabeth moved further west to live near their sons David and William and daughter Susan (Teeple) in Stark County, Ohio, where they appear in 1840[5] and 1850.[6]
David Lash died on 23 Feb 1853, in Stark County, Ohio.[7][8]
After his death, there was a probate dispute concerning the settlement of his estate, leading to a publication of notices of multiple lawsuits between his children seeking partition of certain of his property.[8]
Children of David Lash and Elizabeth Shuts include:[8]
Eliza & Jacob are named in the probate litigation but their dates of birth are uncertain.
He is commonly identified by researchers as a son of Jacob Lash, but no clear documentation of this connection has been found.
The following facts support his identification as a son of Jacob Lash: common name; birth in Sussex County, New Jersey; common migration pattern with other potential children of Jacob; common naming patterns of children.
Some researchers incorrectly identify his mother as Elizabeth Cobb, who was born in Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay Colony, married Nathaniel Atkins there, and appears to have lived her whole life on Cape Cod. She was not the wife of Jacob Lash. For additional detail, see her profile.
