According to the 1841 Scotland Census, cited above, May was born in 1836.
According to the 1851 Scotland Census, May was born in 1836[3][4]
According to the 1900 US Census, she was born in Oct 1940 (Note: Last name incorrectly transcribed as Barge). Because most of the ages on the Scotland Census were generally rounded, this also caused the birth years to be estimated. The only definitive information that evidence has been found for is the Oct 1940 date and for this reason May's 2nd great granddaughter, T Counce has used this date for this profile.[5][6]
These references are added only to show where the date of birth came from. Mom is missing from these references due to reasons stated below in death section.
Death
May died sometime after the US 1900 Census as she does not appear on the US 1910 Census with her husband who was by then a boarder in another household.[11]
She does not come up in search for her death in the currently available Missouri records or in FamilySearch records for anywhere. Nor does she come up in a search on FindAGrave
Family members have speculated that she died in 1903 in Missouri, and while this may be possible, there is no evidence to support this.
