However, note that Johann Abraham Shockey Jr. (1788-1863) did also have a daughter named Eliza J Shockey (1815-1877). She is the woman who married John William Ross McMurray (1814-1897).
Additionally, I did find him in the 1860 and 1870 census records. In 1860 he shows up as Abram Sharkey, chief of police in St. Louis (Ward 10, page 70). Interestingly, his son Abraham is also on the census who records show to have died 7 years earlier. In 1870 he shows up as Abraham Sokey [indexed as Lokey], fireman for the city in St. Louis (Ward 10, page 478).
I did change his death date to 2 March from 2 May after viewing the St.Louis death record. He also has has a short obit (in addition to the longer one printed earlier) saying he died "yesterday" (i.e. 6 March) and notes his 28-year service in the St. Louis fire department. It also confirms his wife's maiden name again by mentioning his brother-in-law, ex-Chief Sexton.
