Biography

Born in Västerås in Västmanland and since 1982 living in Östersund in Jämtland, Sweden. My ancestors are mostly from Västmanland, Dalarna, Gästrikland and Västergötland. I am just now mostly working with the ancestors of my father, trying to complete the registration of my material there, but I all the time find interesting things ....

Special interest in "Bergsmän", early blast furnace owners in the region of Norberg (Västmanland and Dalarna) in Sweden 1500-1700

About references to Swedish sources

I mostly give source information från Arkiv digital, there is a paywall, but they have recently made photos in high quality of the swedish churchbooks. The source information also include a short link (AID) to the material, just cut and paste it in the upper left corner of the web version of their program.

The swedish church books are also avaliable for free at Riksarkivet / SVAR. They are digitalised from microfilms made in the 1960s. Search for församling / parish. Then you use volume number (beginning with for example AI (household examination rolls), C (birth records or in older material birth, marriage and deaths), F (Deaths), E (Marriages). "Sid" means page.
