Moses was enumerated in the 1840, Columbia, Randolph, Arkansas census with a large family, possibly his parents. His neighbours were his sister, Thenah Looney, and many McDaniels^[1]

Frances died September 11, 1849. Moses Stubblefield is listed in the 1850 Randolph, Arkansas census as widowed, born in Tennessee and some of his children living with him.^[2] He is surrounded by his supposed siblings (some born in North Carolina) and their families in Randolph - Feilding Stubblefield, Absolom Stubblefield, Coleman Stubblefield, perhaps his sister, Dorcas Bailey and the family from his deceased sister, Thena Stubblefield Looney.
