There were two Mary Thorpes born in a similar period of time in Virginia. The one born in 1735 appears to be another Mary Thorpe who married William Person.
On March 14, 1751, the Will of Timothy Thorpe was probated in Southampton County and a bequest of 10 Pounds was made to Granddaughter Mary Barham. This seems to indicate that James Barham married Mary, granddaughter of Timothy Thorpe, but cannot be proven as Marriage records were not kept prior to 1772.[2]This Grandaughter Mary Barham is the daughter of Timothy's daughter, Hannah that married a Barham.[3]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
I am so happy to have found this. I thought I had my Barham tree trimmed perfectly - until my cousin asked me for getting help with Mayflower application based on Martha Peterson and Timothy Jr Thorpe’s daughter’s marriage, Mary, to our James Jr Barham. So when I got to digging, I found Timothy Jr’s Will that names Mary Person and son-in-law William Person. Plus the fact that Son Peterson Thorpe married Martha Patty Person made it all very clear our James Barham’s wife, Mary Thorpe was not Timothy JR’s daughter. Also you mention that the Mary Barham mentioned in Timothy Sr’s will as granddaughter was from his daughter marrying a Barham, but a Hannah is not mentioned in his will as a daughter. Did something happen to Hannah and her Barham husband? Have you looked at Mary Thorpe, daughter of Timothy Jr’s brother, Joseph? Thanks for your confirming what I suspected. Two of my Aslin brother ancestors, Thomas and Samuel, married two Barham sisters, Martha Ann and Mary Ann. Thanks, again.
