Biography

Birth and Parents

Based on the age of her first born child, Rebecca,^[1] and presumed marriage in 1641, Dorothy was most likely born by 1620 in England.

Several online genealogies show that Dorothy's last name at birth was Tweedy, however, there are no reliable sources backing up that assumption. It has been hypothesized that her mark, which, based on the transcriber's copy, looks like a "T" and could represent the first initial of her last name at birth. (see the attached snipett of her mark)

Marriage and children

Dorothy married George Blake (abt.1611-1698) by 1641, probably in Gloucester, Massachusetts.^[2] and together they had the following children (all recorded in Gloucester, Massachusetts Bay Colony)^[3]:
