Biography

Hester (Webster) Bell was born on July 31, 1629 in Virginia, Colonial America. Her parents were William Webster (1576 - ) and Frances Ann (Still) Webster (1583 - 1641).

"George Bell and his wife Hester Webster, born in 1630 and 1634 respectfully in County Durham, England. Along with their two children John and Margaret, they immigrated to the Virginia Colony about 1650, several years after his parents and grandfather had immigrated." Their son Robert Bell married Penelope "Polly" Clement after their return to "The Colony" after their studies in Durham, England on the Clement's Yacht called "George. "Other children fathered by George were born in Virginia, but we not all were Hester's children. She died sometime before the son George don't if they all were Hester's children. Hester likely died around 1668." "George's second wife is known only as Joyce. He likely married Joyce about 1672, before the birth of their son George. Joyce appears in Virginia probate record in 1702 for husband George where two of their children are listed." Several of his children with Joyce moved to North Carolina. "George Bell Sr. made his will June 22, 1702, probated November 9, 1702. He bequeathed to Joyce Bell, "land where I now live to hold for a time of lease from Col. Joseph Bridger, 99 years; to son George and daughter Elizabeth rest of estate to be equally divided." His children were: George, John, Elizabeth, daughter name unknown married John Bond. Hester died in 1702 in Isle of Wight, Isle of Wight, Virginia aged ~72.
