Death date was changed from July 5, 1812 because that date represents the law that applied to the pension ("Act July 5, 1812"); it was not the date of death (see U.S. Pension Roll of 1835). The date of May 14, 1814 was given by a descendant on a DAR application but that kind of information is not always 100% accurate.
