On May 8, 1907 Lottie's family set sail on the ship "Lake Champlain" from Liverpool to immigrate to the Port of Québec in Canada.[2]
From Québec City the family made their way out west. In 1911 they were farming in Strathcona District, Alberta at NW34-43-6-W4, which is near the current towns of Hardisty and Wainwright.[3] By 1916 Charlotte's father was not living with the family and her brother Henry was a Canadian soldier living at home. Her mother was the head of the farm.[4] According to a family tree on Ancestry, her father was in an asylum.[5] He died before 1921 as the census for that year lists her mother as widowed.[6]
Likely after the death of her father, the family left the farm and moved to 11259 95 Street in the City of Edmonton. There, she lived with her mother, brother Thomas and sister Emily Nora.[7]
Charlotte met Robert D. Thomas, possibly a labourer in the area of their farm. (There were two different men in the area with that name: one American[8] and the other Welsh.[9]) They were married in Edmonton in 1931.[10] They had five children: two sons and three daughters.
On July 20, 1946 Charlotte died. She had been living at 7904 92 Avenue in Edmonton.[11][12] She was buried July 24 in Beechmount Cemetery in Edmonton.[13][14]
