COFFEE, John D. (Donelson), Mar 15, 1815 - Jun 1837. son of Gen'l John & Mary Coffee, Aged 22 years & 3 months. (I tried to read this inscription and became confused by its weakness. It was covered by the broken parts of the stone of his mother. Seems like the dates were not sensible. It read to me: "IN Memory of John D. Coffee, son of Gen'l John and Mary Coffee, Born March 22nd & Died August 13th A.D 1815.2 29th A.D., aged 22 years & 3 months. some of the year dates may be missing to make this clearer.

I do not believe reading this inscription will change anything. Because of the prominence of this family his age 22 years and 5 months is well ingrained in this records of his birth and death date.
