This image of John H Hipp was taken from the archives of the Greenville Advocate. He and Charles Kelley were lynched on December 29th, 1892. I have written a book about his life covering a period of time from 1860 to 1892. You will find the book cover as well as a link to my website which will give instructions on how you may purchase the book.

John, I did some research, and the reason your great grandfather could not have committed the crimes is that he was a different John Hipp born in a different city 10 years apart. John Hipp that was hanged was a local married to Emma Simms and he never had children. I hope you find where your ancestor was buried someday.
