I stayed right with the same Company I first started out with until I was discharged. I never served in any other Company. I was never transferred to any other Company. I served as a Private soldier all the time. I was never made a Corporal nor a Sergeant. Somewhere in South Carolina, I don't know where we were - when we came out on dress parade they wanted to make me a

and she had never been married before she married me - I knew her father and knew her several years - I don't know how long before I married her.
I do not remember the name of my Captain or Lieutenant, to tell the truth I cannot remember who my field officers were only Colonel Hallowell is the only name I can remember - and I can remember my 1st Sergeant, was Sergeant Pinckney of Grand Rapids - and Tom Hallin of Grand Rapids was in my Company.
My tentmates were a little fellow - he was a drummer - his name was Taylor something. I can not tell his last name - Just me and this Taylor laid together when we could. He was a little fellow. I did not have any other tent mate.
