both in South Carolina - I know in reason some men in my Company were Killed in those engagements but I don't know who they were - I was wounded at Honey Hill and right after being wounded I was sent to Hospital at Beaufort South Carolina.

On hearing that statement read over I do now remember that Colonel Shaw was our next Colonel - after Colonel Hallowell was promoted or left the regiment.

I have heard tell of Sergeant William Butler but I don't remember him in the company I served in.

Warren Allen - tried to claim relationship to me but I don't know anything about him and I never knew him in the army.

My father was not named Benjamin - he was Bill Jackson -

We were in Florida, and South Carolina, around there but do not remember places, and do not remember whether we were first in Florida or South Carolina.

I don't know how old I was at enlistment but I think about 30 years of age - was born in Canada. The post office was Spruce but it was Dresedent[sic] settlement - Complexion black, black hair and eyes when I enlisted.

I was at "Fort Wagner" and "Honey Hill" engagements both of them - When I saw awhile ago I was in no fight only Honey Hill - I was not thinking - The Honey Hill fight was before the Fort Wagner fight [researcher note: the Second Battle of Fort Wagner happened before the Battle of Honey Hill, but maybe a skirmish instead?]
