The Templetons of Scotland/England did not have a tartan of their own as they were not large enough to own their own territory. They were what is referred to as a "sept". A sept relates to a surname which was not a clan of its own and was associated with another clan. When in Scotland, I was told the Templetons were associated with the Stewart clan and could, therefore, use one of the Stewart tartans.
