Biography

Sarah Hall, youngest child of Stephen Hall and Ruth (Davis) Hall was born 19 June 1688 in Stow, Massachusetts.[1] She and her sister Elizabeth were born in Stow, before the family moved to Connecticut.

The Plainfield, Connecticut, vital records show that Sarah Hall, daughter of Stephen, married Benjamin Spaulding Jr. 21 Oct 170[ ].[2] Their first child was born July 1709.[2] Benjamin died 17 Sep 1712,[2] leaving two daughters.

  1. Olive Spaulding, b. 17 July 1709, in Plainfield[2]
  2. Sarah Spaulding b. 8 Oct 1711, in Plainfield;[2] m. Samuel Coitt 30 March 1730.[2]

Sarah Spaulding, widow of Benjamin Jr. married William Blogget 18 Aug 1714.[2] Children:

  1. William Blodgett b. 20 May 1715[2]
  2. Benjamin Blodgett b. 17 May 1717[2]
  3. Mary Blodgett b. 13 June 1721[2]
  4. Ame Blodgett b. 16 Feb 1723/4.[2] Ama m. Joshua Whitney Jr about the 8 of April 1743[2]
  5. Tace (Luce) Blodgett b. 9 June 1727[2]
  6. Hester Blodgett b. 2 June 1730[2]
  7. Jonathan Blodgett b. Jan 1735/6, in Preston.[3]

Sarah Blodgett died 14 Jan 1735/6 in Plainfield.[2]

Question: The birth of Jonathan was not recorded in Plainfield or Preston, but he was born in Preston according to Ten Generations of Blodgetts. His mother clearly died from complications of childbirth 14 Jan 1736/6. Her death was recorded in Plainfield. Why not in the same town?
