Biography

Sarah Hobart was born in 1644. Sarah is the daughter of Joshua Hobart and Ellen Ibrook.^[1]

She married as his second wife, Edward Cowell (abt.1616-1691) in Hingham on 26 Jun 1668.^{[2] [3][4]} Edward was 28 years older than Sarah. They were members of the Old South Church and their children were baptized there.

After the death of Edward Cowell in 1691 Sarah married John Cleverly, Blacksmith, in 1695. The probate records for Edward Cowell which were administrated by John Cleverly state Sarah was his deceased wife who was the sole executrix of the estate of Edward Cowell. [2]

She died at Boston 24 Feb 1696.^[5]

• Lincoln's History of Hingham Vol II, p.130 incorrectly states Sarah's birth as 21 Feb 1665. However it also states the she died in 1696 age 51, making 1644 her birth year.
