Biography

Anne Bourchier was a member of the aristocracy in England.

Anne Bourchier, Baroness Dacre, was born in about 1470 (she was 60 when she died in 1530), the daughter of Sir Humphrey Bourchier and Elizabeth Tilney. ^[1] She married Sir Thomas Fiennes, 8th Baron Dacre in about 1492.^[2][3] Holders of this Dacre title were often called "Dacre of the South" to distinguish them from another noble Dacre family.^[4] The family seat was at Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex.^[5]

In 1495 the poet John Skelton was a guest of her mother and her stepfather, Thomas Howard, at Sheriff Hutton Castle, Yorkshire. Anne was among the ladies who placed an ornamental garland on his head, and he wrote a poem, The Garlande of Laurell, in which he complimented her, her mother and other ladies.^[5]

She was a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Catherine of Aragon.^[5][6][7]

She died, age 60, on 29 September 1530.^[5]

Research Notes

There have been suggestions that there was a daughter Catherine who married Richard Londenoys. See a 1902 article on the New England Historical and Genealogical Register^[9] and discussion in a Tudor History blog in 2012.^[10] The evidence for this seems not very reliable.
