Edward was born about 1676, supposedly in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.[citation needed]Note: Portsmouth town records have been searched for Edward. There are very few Webbers in the town and no record has been located for Edward's birth in 1676 in Portsmouth which makes this highly suspect. It seems more likely that Edward would have either been born in Massachusetts OR in England, but no records have been found there either. Edward's marriage records and probate do not list his approximate age or year of birth either, making this a very large mystery.
He married Patience Hobbs 16 April 1703 in Holland, Hampden, Massachusetts.[1][2]
A previous version of this profile claimed he died 16 Apr 1703 in Wenham, but the Wenham vital records list no such death on that date for Edward Wenham. (That was the date of his intention to marry Patience Hobbs.) There is a 10 Jun 1764 death for one Edward Webber, but it's not clear it is this man.[3]
The Wenham vital records list no children for this couple, suggesting they were born elsewhere.
The following children are listed in the Beverly, Mass records; date of birth uncertain, but about 1704/5:[4]
John
Edward (another record says born 28 March 1704[5])
The following child is listed in the Ipswich vital records, under the name Webber, and including the mother's name, Patience:[7]
Patience, 16 April 1708
Ipswich records the following births (naming only parent as "Edward") under "Webbar":[8]
William, bp 22 2m [April] 1711
Elizabeth, bp 31 3m [May] 1713; she married Richard Weber in Holland, Hampden, MA on 11 Feb 1735; he was the son of Richard Weber and Sarah Chapman.[9]
Sarah, bp 31 Jan 1714
Johanna, bp 9 Nov 1718
No deaths related to this immediate family in the Ipswich vital records.[10]
Edward was born about 1676. He passed away in 1764.
