Biography

John Root, son of John Root Jr (abt.1609-1684) and Mary (Kilbourne) Root (bef.1619-1697) was born about 1642 in Farmington Connecticut. John settles in Westfield Massachusetts where he is made a freeman in 1669[1] John married Mary (Ashley) Root (1644-1702) of Deerfield Massachusetts 18 October 1664 in Springfield Massachusetts[2][3][4]. John and Mary's children were all born in Westfield Massachusetts and are all mentioned in the probate case for his estate which divides the estate among them[5].

I don't find a birth source listed above. The listings Ancestry.com and

appear to indicate Thomas Roote Sr., brother of John Root Jr, could be the father. [2] is a death record which matches the findagrave.
