Mariah (Perkins) DeSpain was born on February 16, 1819 in Halifax, Virginia, United States. She was the daughter of Peter Perkins and Nancy (Chandler) Perkins. She married John Marshall Despain on February 15, 1841 in Green, Kentucky, United States. He had previously been married twice, and had two daughters and a son.
Together, they were the parents of at least three sons and two daughters.
Mariah lived in Pleasant Grove, Des Moines, Iowa, United States in 1880 and Pleasant Grove Township, Des Moines, Iowa, United States in 1900. She died on December 21, 1902 in Des Moines, Iowa, United States.
