Joel Starkweather was b. in Stonington, Conn., 20 June, 1724; m. there 9 Aug.,1750, Jane [Campbell Trumbull, widow of William Trumbull. She came from Dublin, Ireland and her mother was said to be a Spanish woman; by her first marriage she had a son, William, who d. in 1795, aged 47 years. They settled in Mansfield, Conn., in that part of the town now called Chaplin, where Joel Starkweather owned a farm. He d. there 14 April, 1797 and she d. 17 Nov., 1803. The children of Joel and Jane Campbell Trumbull Starkweather are: Mary, b. in Mansfield, Conn., in 1751; bapt. in the North Society of Preston, Conn., 18 Aug., 1751; m. Lewis Stebbins, son of Caleb and Mehitable [Chapin] Stebbins. Charles, b. in Mansfield, Conn., 29 April, 1759; m. Martha Kingsley, dau. of Haynes and Miriam [(???)] Kingsley. Ann Nancy, b. in Mansfield, Conn., 18 Sept., 1762; m. Elkanah Barton, son of Ebenezer and Hannah Barton Barton. Richard, b. in Mansfield, Conn., in 1766; m. Merab Corning. Elizabeth, b. in Mansfield, Conn.; d. unmarried in Mansfield, Conn., June, 1842. Her will was presented to Court 27 June, 1842, and was made 31 Oct., 1834. The inventory was taken 4 Aug., 1842, amounting to $210 57/100
