Biography

Cora May (Fentress) Adcock^[1] was born 25 Dec 1889^[1] (see research note), in Robertson County, Tennessee^[1] to David Franklin Fentress and Elizabeth Frances Spain^[2].
She married Isaac Adcock^[3] on 8 Nov 1908 in Robertson County, Tennessee. The couple had at least three children^[4]

Cora died 7 Jan 1928, age 38 (see research note), in Nashville, Davidson, Tennessee^[1] and was buried in Mount Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Greenbrier, Robertson County, Tennessee^[5].

Research Notes

• The gravestone is depicted in the FindAGrave source^[5]. The stone shows a date of birth of 25 Dec 1889. This is consistent with the 1900 census^[2] but the death certificate for Cora^[1] shows a date of birth of 25 Dec 1890. The informant for the death certificate was Cora's father. The death certificate is NOT internally consistent (i.e. the date of death minus the exact age in days, 38 years and 12 days old at death, equals a date of birth of 25 Dec 1889). Confidence is fairly high that the year of birth was 1889.
• The year of death is more difficult. The gravestone depicted in the FindAGrave source^[5] shows a date of death of 7 Jan 1927 on the stone. This is NOT consistent with the death certificate for Cora^[1] which shows a date of death of 7 Jan 1928 (in several places on the certificate). The year from the death certificate has been used. A possible reason for the incorrect year of death on the stone is that Cora and husband Isaac share the same gravestone and Isaac died 19 years after Cora. There is no visual indication that the dates for the two people were engraved at different times so perhaps Cora's year of death was incorrectly remembered when the stone was commissioned.
