He was born on 21 Sep 1755 in Berkley, Bristol County, Massachusetts and was the son of Mary (Torrey, 1724–1778) and Benjamin Allen (1721–1808).

Josiah Allen married on 29 July 1780 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts, USA to Elisabeth Shepardson [1] (1762–1844).

He died on 28 Dec 1830 and was buried at Newell Burying Ground in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts, USA. [2]
