Biography - Noah Carpenter

Noah was born in 1667. He was the son of William Carpenter and Miriam Searles. He passed away in 1727.

He married, first, on Dec 3,1700 at Dorchester,MA, Sarah Johnson. She was the daughter of Matthew Johnson and his second wife Sarah Wiswall Johnson, and she died Sep 29,1726.

He married, second, at Rehoboth,MA on May 22,1727, Ruth Follett.

He married, third, Mrs. Tabitha (Hadley) Bishop, the widow of William Bishop.

.. as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me with in this Life, I give, demise, and dispose of the same in he following manner and form – Imprimis I give & Bequeath to Tabitha my Dearly Beloved Wife all her Household goods which She Brought with her of all Sorts, Likewise I give her a yearling Heifer also I give a fire Room in my House, and Let her have a table that stands in the chamber, and also three Chairs and a Little kettle during her Life, and after her Decease my Grand Child Sarah Carpenter Isaiah's Daughter to have said table & chairs and kettel.

Item I give my son Noah Carpenter, as an addition to what I have formerly given him one half Share of Commons in Attleborough to him, his heirs and assigns for Ever, also I give him my Cane and Best Hat – and also my great Book of Dr May's works and a spoon mold –

Item I give to my Son Stephen Carpenter, as an addition to what I have formerly given him, that Lot of Land adjoining to his House Lot and a quarter of a Share of Commons in Attleborough to him, his heirs and assigns for Ever and also my Saddle – Item I give to my son Simon Carpenter as an addition to what I have formerly given him thirty pounds out of my Estate within one or two years after my Decease, to be paid by my Executor hereafter named according to the value of the old tenour. Item I give to my Son, Elisha Carpenter as an addition to what I have formerly given him (whom I likewise constitute, make and ordain my Sole Executor in this my last will and testament) all my Home Lot with the Housing in it Excepting what I have allowed my wife a fire room in my said House, likewise I give him all my Husbandry tools, excepting my Iron Bar, which I give to my son Noah. Likewise I give him my Herd Cattle with my mare and sheep, and all my Credits, upon the consideration of what I have formerly and Now given him I further oblige my said Son Elisha Carpenter , his heirs, Executors or Administrators to do or Cause to be done as followeth in Every particular for his mother as long as she remains my widow, first he shall keep her Heifer Winter and Summer and Likewise to take Care of his Said mother to provide Sufficient provision for her Comfortable Livelyhood of meat & Corn & Cider and all other things of provision for her Comfortable Subsistence, and fire wood at the door cut fit to Burn in the Chimney this finding at the Door is to be understood if she live in my House, Likewise to allow her yearly Six pounds of good wooll and Ten pounds of flax, and also to Carry his Mother to meeting when she wants to goe, further I give my said wife all the provision that is in my House a my Decease and --- if there be any –

Item I give my Shop tools Eaqualy amongst my four sons, and also the Rest of my Wearing apparel Eaqually amongst them --- And I do thereby utterly Disalow, Revoke, and Dismiss allways and Evermore other former Testaments, Wills, Lagices and Bequests & Executors by me in any ways before Named, Willed and Bequethed (..etc.)
