John Henry Barnes was born on Feb. 24, 1895 at Alumny Creek, New South Wales, Australia to Henry Felix Barnes and Priscilla Marjory (Cavanagh) Barnes.[1] [2]
He never married.
He worked as a teacher before enlisting in the AIF on Nov. 2 1915. He attained the rank of Private in the 14th Machine Gun Battalion where he earned the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.[3]
John died on Dec. 7, 1920[4] and was buried at Wentworth Falls Cemetery in Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains City, New South Wales.
