Anne married Thomas Heneage on 5 Nov 1554. [1]
In 1556, they had a daughter Elizabeth. [2]
She served as an extraordinary gentlewoman of the privy chamber [3] and was listed in the Coronation List dated 15 Jan 1559 as Mrs Heneage of the Queen Majesty's Chamber. [4]
On the 3rd of August, 1564, Queen Elizabeth granted, by letters patent, Copt Hall, in the parish of Waltham Abbey, to Sir Thomas Heneage and Anne his wife, to be held of her the Duchy of Lancaster by the service of a Knight's fee. [5]
It is believed that her marriage to Thomas was happy. He wrote of her in 1581, to his friend Christopher Hatton, My wife's sickness and lameness are, so as she could not stir out of her bed, was the cause I could neither in reason or honesty come out from my house until she was better amended. [6]
Anne is named as Thomas's wife in a fine in the Court of Common Pleas, 20 Jan 1584, passing clear title to the manor of Bretts to one Roger Townshend. [7] Later in that same year, on the 22 June, Anne and Thomas were both named in the will of Anne's brother Sir Nicholas Poyntz of Iron Acton. [8]
Anne died on 19 Nov 1593 at Modsey, Surrey. Although Thomas remarried, he only survived Ann by two years. Both of them were buried in the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, St Paul's Cathedral. A monument with their reclining figures was placed above their grave which sadly, along with the old Cathedral, was destroyed during the Great Fire of London. [9]
There was a portrait of her at Bradbourne House, Kent in which she was depicted wearing a white linen under-dress with ruff and full sleeves with cuff, a black cap and holding a book and embroidery. [10]
