Research notes

It was earlier reported that "Elizabeth's last name is not necessarily Staples, and she is almost certainly not the daughter of Abraham Staples and Mehitable Hayward". Town Records show that her first name was Mehitabel, and her last name was in fact, Staples^[2]. Therefore, it is likely that she is "one of Mehitabel's three children with Abraham that were named in a petition to the court in 1725 regarding her husband's estate", and that Elizabeth is her middle name.
