Ebenezer Ellis was born May 27, 1729, the son of Gideon Ellis and Anna Clark of Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts[1][2][3][4][5]
He married Hannah, whose parents are unknown[3][4][5], and they had children, including:
Gideon, born December 25, 1754[6], and was perhaps baptized in 1757, who married Sarah Rees[4][5][3]
Ezekiel, born 1760 in Massachusetts, who married Hannah Crocker[4][5][3]
Ebenezer Ellis, born January 15, 1763 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, who married Lydia Scott, daughter of Rev. Jonathon Scott on December 18, 1788, and who died in 1799[4][5][3]
Hannah, born February 4, 1765, who married Steven Tinkham, son of Edward Tinkham on November 15, 1782; and then married Comfort Healey in November 1795[7]; and who died January 16, 1862[4][5][3]
Bethia, born January 13, 1767, who married David W. Beveridge[4][5][3]
Elizabeth, born September 28, 1769, who died unmarried[4][5][3]
Samuel, born January 3, 1773, who married Hannah Bartlett, daughter of Lemuel Bartlett on June 23, 1797[8]; and then married Susanna (Magrey) Perry, widow of Levi Perry in 1836[9]; and who died December 18,1860[4][5][3]
When Gideon Ellis died February 1761, Ebenezer, as the oldest surviving son was named executor of his father's estate, however the estate was administered by Timothy Perry, his brother-in-law, because Ebenezer and his family had emigrated to Nova Scotia[3]
On June 9, 1761, Ebenezer and his family, together with Sealed Landers and Moses Perry arrived in Chebogue (Yarmouth), Nova Scotia on the Schooner Pompey[10] Note Moses Perry was married to Ebenezer's sister, Eleanor. [4][5][3]
